François Gilbert & Philippe Gaillard
Philippe Gaillard and François Gilbert are opinion leaders, wine tasters and critics. They created the Gilbert & Gaillard brand and namesake Guides, but also publish an internationally renowned magazine. Their countless journeys around the world have given them unique insight into winegrowing from every aspect and under every latitude – from South Africa to California via Italy, the Iberian Peninsula and Eastern Europe. They have now turned this expertise to good account at their own wineries, including Château Gilbert & Gaillard which they bought in 2012.
François Gilbert
With a PhD and higher teaching diploma in geography, François Gilbert specialised in studying vineyard sites very early on in his career. A lecturer for 15 years, he now devotes his time to his passion for wine and co-founded the company Gilbert & Gaillard with Philippe Gaillard in 1989. They bought the magnificent Château Gilbert & Gaillard together in 2012.
Philippe Gaillard
Born into a family of winegrowers in Touraine, Philippe studied viticulture and winemaking. After working as sales manager for a prominent French wine distribution group, he co-founded the company Gilbert & Gaillard with François Gilbert in 1989. They bought the magnificent Château Gilbert & Gaillard together in 2012

A Passionate Team
Sharing the same passion for terroir, the Château Gilbert et Gaillard’s team is dedicated to preserve the integrity of grapes and extract quintessential terroir characters.
Caroline Gilbert
After spending ten years in the Middle East, Caroline joined the Gilbert & Gaillard team in 2019, bringing her experience, both of international issues and gastronomy, to the company. She first worked as sales director then managing director of Classic Fine Foods United Arab Emirates, which specialises in importing and distributing high-end products.
Matthieu Gaillard
A genuine vineyard enthusiast, Matthieu studied viticulture and winemaking, qualifying for the finals of the Best Young European Wine Tasters. He joined the team at Château Gilbert & Gaillard in 2017.
Pierre Lemoine
An agricultural engineer and winemaker, he has been with us since 2015. As the sales director for Gilbert & Gaillard vineyards, he is closely involved in the winemaking process.
Sophie Fabre
After graduating both as an agricultural engineer and winemaker, Sophie Fabre earned her stripes alongside the cellar master at Vignobles Silvio Denz for 7 years. Persevering, inquisitive and meticulous, she now works as cellar master at Château Gilbert & Gaillard.
Etienne Moreau
Etienne holds a technical diploma in viticulture and winemaking and joined us in 2022. He is head viticulturist tasked with managing the 33 hectares entirely farmed organically.
